Jim Kushner maintains control of the 2016 MLB Predictions Pool for the eighth consecutive week, trailed by Frank Gatland and Jason Salavon. Jim has eight correct picks for only the third time this season… However, Jim’s previous scores of 8-32 (June 18, 19) were nearly matched by Rob LaColla’s 8-30 at that time.

The Jim Kushner regime continues for the seventh consecutive week in our first weekly update of the second half. Jim still holds an effective three-pick lead over all challengers.

Jason Salavon got within two points of our leader on Friday, taking advantage of 15 IP by Madison Bumgarner over back-to-back gamedays (and a stolen base by Jonathan Villar). Jason is now tied for 10th place…

July 11, 2016 (All-Star Break)

Jim Kushner keeps his lead for the sixth consecutive week as we head into the All-Star Break… Runners-up Rob LaColla and Danton Boller trail Jim in both points and HBPs.

With Jim enjoying his largest lead to date, let’s take a realistic look at his competition. Rob, Danton, and Jason Salavon all need three points to pass Jim (Jason leads in HBPs), while all other entrants need at least four. Mark Watzke probably has the best chance to overcome a current HBP deficit with Jim (Jeff Samardzija vs Gerrit Cole).

Jason and Danton can score two-point swings in the NL RBI category against Jim’s Nolan Arenado pick with Kris Bryant (trails by 5) and Anthony Rizzo (trails by 7), respectively. Kenley Jansen overtaking Jeurys Familia in NL saves would provide a similar advantage for Danton, Jason, and Mark. Mike Trout could make things interesting in the AL batting categories if his torrid summer numbers continue…

July 4, 2016

Jim Kushner leads for the fifth week in a row, followed by brand-new daddy Rob LaColla and Frank Gatland. Only three entrants have higher HBP totals than Jim, all of whom trail by at least three correct picks…

We’ll provide a more detailed analysis of our leaderboard dynamics in next week’s All-Star Break update. Have a happy 4th!!!
