Jim Kushner tops the charts for the fourth straight weekly update, adding to his streak of 23 consecutive days in first place as well. Last year’s longest daily run was 17 days by Dan McCloskey in September…

Clayton Kershaw's second inning struggles in Pittsburgh last night not only kept the Dodger ace from sole ownership of the NL wins point, but also cleared the way for Jake Arrieta to claim the ERA category. Arrieta makes his next start tonight in Cincinnati.

RANDOM NOTES:
José Altuve back in lead for AL BA… Trevor Rosenthal (14.14 June ERA) removed from Cards’ closer role… AL HBP leader Brandon Guyer nears return from DL… Today’s average point score of 2.95 is our lowest this month… Jake Arrieta loses CWS bet, forced to get Coastal Carolina tattoo…

Hoping to get the next weekly update out on the 4th!

Jim Kushner and Rob LaColla go 1-2 for the third straight weekly update, with Will Rice trailing in both points and HBPs. Jim and Rob hit a high-water mark of eight correct picks over the weekend, but lost Josh Donaldson (AL runs) and José Altuve (AL steals) on Sunday afternoon.

Rob’s best chances to overtake Jim may rest on the shoulders of Donaldson in the power categories. The reigning AL MVP seems to be waking up from a quiet month of May, but still trails the league leaders by 3 HR and 15 RBI. Rob can also sneak into first if Zach Britton loses his lead in AL saves…

See you next Monday!

June 13, 2016

Jim Kushner maintains his lead in our seventh weekly update, with Rob LaColla now trailing by two HBPs. Jim has spent nine consecutive days in first place, the longest such streak in this year’s pool.

Jim and Rob’s picks are remarkably similar this year, sharing eleven category selections and three tiebreaker picks. The NL pitching HBP slot is key to Jim’s edge over Rob: while Jim’s choice of Gerrit Cole only has two hit batsmen to date and may be facing time on the DL, Rob is stuck with an inactive Charlie Morton (out for the season with a torn left hamstring)…

See you next Monday!

June 6, 2016

Jim Kushner leads this week, followed by Rob LaColla just a single HBP behind. The dropoff is somewhat steep after Jim and Rob, with seven entrants trailing by two correct picks.

Last week we observed the dominance of popular pick Clayton Kershaw, but what about the big busts? Last year’s Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel has just three wins and currently ranks 44th in the AL with a 5.50 ERA… In the batting categories, Bryce Harper’s .249 batting average (63rd among NL qualifiers) hasn’t exactly justified his 36 picks in this year’s pool.

See you next Monday!
